ABOUT ARCANE ESTATE COFFEE

Defined by distinct microclimates and uncompromising producers, Panamá has been leading specialty coffee production since its Geisha varietal first found renown in 2004. Our founder, Edgar Acosta-Masferrer, realized that his family’s land sat at the center of this movement; located in the western province of Chiriquí, where high elevation, volcanic soil, and microclimates shape some of the most celebrated farms in the world. Arcane is the result of a decade of exploration, motivated by our desire to shorten the distance between the harvest and the cup.

Rarity by Design

We source exclusively from our own harvest as well as a small circle of neighboring producers in the Chiriquí highlands, selecting micro-lots that best express the nuance of the current season. Because these coffees are rarities within the harvest, our supply is strictly limited. Arcane’s focus is to honor tradition and give access to coffees not regularly consumed.

Farm & Process

Rooted in Volcán, our founder planted the first trees on his family estate, Villa Luna, between 2018 & 2019. The drive to showcase these coffees began with visits to extended family’s farms, where he cultivated relationships with producers and saw the admirable care they take in their work. Beyond Geisha, we harvest varietals such as Catuai and Caturra, allowing the same landscape to speak in different registers.

We work across a range of processes, from traditional natural methods to mild fermentations, with each intervention deliberately designed to draw out what is already present in the plant rather than overwrite it.

Roast

Our profiles are intentionally light, developed to preserve the expressions inherent to the coffee. We use longer rest times to allow the coffee to stabilize, ensuring that the work done at the farm is what culminates in the cup.
